Nova Choir

This choir was formed in 1988, and its first performance was in 1989. The statutes were drawn up in 1990, approved by the Senate, and the choir now has its own Social Organs.

The choir is currently directed by Maestro João Valeriano, and presents a diverse repertoire, including pieces from the Renaissance to contemporary pieces, some “a cappella” and other accompanied by instruments and soloists.
Recently, pieces with solos have been more important, so as to facilitate partnerships with professional musicians. Some of the pieces are Vivaldi’s “Gloria”, Mendelssohn’s “Lauda Sion” and Mozart’s “Te Deum”.
