Lançado em 2015, o Concurso de Bandas NOVA Música é uma iniciativa anual que tem por objetivo fomentar e divulgar a música junto dos alunos da NOVA, bem como promover o crescimento de novas bandas da cena musical portuguesa.
O concurso é aberto a músicos individuais ou bandas que incluam alunos ou alumni da NOVA (incluindo alunos Erasmus e de outros programas de mobilidade), sendo escolhidas pelo júri e pelo público as três bandas que atuam no final onde é definido o vencedor.
Está, além disso, ligado ao Festival Nova Música, onde atuaram alguns dos seus vencedores, ou onde decorreram finais do concurso.
O VIII Concurso de Bandas NOVA Música irá premiar os finalistas com uma atuação na final do concurso e o vencedor com um prémio monetário de 700€.
